Some Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare plans may include prescription drug coverage. Your coverage will depend on which plan you have.
Although Medicare Part A and Part B (also called Original Medicare) do not typically cover most prescription drugs, Medicare beneficiaries can consider obtaining prescription drug coverage by enrolling in a Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plan (also called Medicare Part C) that includes coverage for prescription medication, or a standalone prescription drug plan (Part D).
Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans provide the same benefits as Original Medicare under one plan. A Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plan can also offer some additional benefits not covered by Original Medicare.
Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans that offer prescription drug coverage are contracted with over 64,000 network pharmacies across the U.S.
The network includes major retail pharmacy chains as well as independent pharmacies, so that you can have convenient access to pharmacies where you live.
You can also choose to mail order your maintenance medications so that your prescriptions are delivered straight to your home at standard shipping costs.
Cigna-HealthSpring also partners with over 32,000 preferred network pharmacies, which can help you typically pay much less for your prescriptions.1
A Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Part D plan can give you coverage for some of your prescription drug costs, but it won’t offer some of the other benefits that a Medicare Advantage plan or Original Medicare offer.
You are eligible to enroll in any Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Part D plan that is available where you live, as long as you are entitled to Medicare Part A and/or enrolled in Medicare Part B.
Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Part D plans can offer extensive drug coverage, with over 3,000 medications covered for people on Medicare.
Like Cigna-HealthSpring’s Medicare Advantage plans, these Part D plans give you access to a national network of over 64,000 pharmacies and over 23,000 preferred network pharmacies.1
As a beneficiary of a Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Part D plan, you can also access a team of Medicare Part D experts who can help you save money by working with you and your doctor to find lower-cost prescription alternatives to brand-name drugs.
A Medicare Advantage plan from Cigna-HealthSpring can help you combine all of your Medicare Part A and Part B health care benefits into one plan that promotes a team approach to your health.
A Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare plan that includes prescription drug coverage can also help you save money on some of the out-of-pocket costs for the medicine you need.
Older adults make up just 13 percent of the U.S. population but account for 34 percent of all prescription drug consumption in the nation.2
Given the potentially high costs of medication, prescription drug coverage can be vital both to one’s health and pocketbook.
