Medicare Star Ratings

Each year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) releases Star Ratings that measure the performance of Medicare Advantage plans.

These ratings evaluate Medicare Advantage plans based on:

• Staying healthy
• Member complaints
• Health plan customer service
• Member experience with the plan
• Management of chronic conditions

According to Medicare.gov, the ratings range from one star (poor) to five stars (excellent).

Aetna offers several different types of Medicare Advantage plans, including:

• Aetna Medicare^SM Plan (HMO)
• Aetna Medicare Open Access Plan (HMO)
• Aetna Medicare Prime Plan (HMO)
• Aetna Medicare^SM Plan (PPO)
• Aetna Medicare Prime Plan (PPO)

Aetna financial strength ratings

Moody’s Investors Service rated the financial strength of Aetna Inc. as A (Excellent), and they were affirmed with a stable outlook.²

12 percent of all Medicare Advantage beneficiaries are enrolled in an Aetna Medicare plan. This accounts for over 4.1 million of people eligible for Medicare Advantage plans.¹

Aetna Customer Service Reviews​

Aetna Medicare Advantage plan members can use the phone number listed on their plan ID card to contact Member Services. Plan members can also contact the company by email or use the online chat feature.

The Aetna secure member website also allows members to locate doctors, find prescriptions and their costs, access various forms, pay their premiums, check claim statuses, request a replacement Aetna Medicare card and more.
