Aetna Medicare Advantage (also called Medicare Part C) plans cover the benefits and services that are covered by Medicare Part A and Part B. Medicare Advantage plans offered by Aetna may include coverage for prescription drugs.
If you’re enrolled in an Aetna Medicare Advantage plan that offers prescription drug coverage, your plan will have a list (formulary) of what prescription drugs are covered, what tier a drug is on, and any drug requirements or limits. It will also have mail order availability through CVS Caremark® Mail Service Pharmacy.
The lower the tier a drug is on, the less you will typically pay. The benefits you receive will vary depending on the plan you choose.
Each year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) release Star Ratings that measure the performance of Medicare Advantage plans.
For 2022, Aetna Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans earned an overall weighted average rating of 4.29 out of 5 stars. The majority of Aetna Medicare plan members are in a plan rated 4.5 stars or higher out of 5 stars.2
