Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are 65 and older, or people under 65 with certain disabilities or anyone with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD, permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant).
Original Medicare has two parts: Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Medicare Part B (medical insurance).
Both parts work together to provide hospital and medical insurance benefits, however Original Medicare does not cover everything, and may have some coverage gaps. Generally, Original Medicare doesn’t offer benefits such as routine dental and vision or prescription drug coverage. If you want additional coverage to help pay for some of these costs, you may be able to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that offers these types of benefits, such as a plan offered by a private insurance company, like Humana.
Humana offers a few types of Medicare plans including Medicare Advantage plans, as well as Medicare stand-alone prescription drug plans and Medicare Supplement Insurance plans.
Humana Medicare Advantage Plans
As with any Medicare Advantage plan, Humana Medicare Advantage plans provide the same coverage as Original Medicare, and some plans may include additional benefits such as coverage for prescription drugs, and routine dental and vision.
Certain Humana Medicare Advantage plans also offer other benefits and services such as access to mail-order pharmacy services and caregiver support.

Humana Medicare Prescription Drug Plans
Humana Medicare prescription drug plans offer stand-alone prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries. The plans work with Original Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance plans and certain Medicare Advantage plans.
Your plan out-of-pocket costs will vary depending on which prescription drugs you take and which pharmacy you use.
Each plan charges different copayments or coinsurance when you fill a prescription within each tier. The tiers range from Tier 1, Preferred Generic, up to Tier 5, Specialty Tier.

- Humana Premier Rx Plan™ (PDP)
- Humana Basic RX Plan™ (PDP)

Humana Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Medicare Supplement Insurance plans like those offered by Humana work with Original Medicare and help pay some Medicare out-of-pocket costs such as certain copayments, coinsurance and deductibles.
Medicare Supplement Insurance plans are standardized by the federal government and work with Original Medicare and Medicare stand-alone prescription drug plans. You can’t have a Medicare Advantage plan and a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan at the same time.
Humana offers eight Medicare Supplement Insurance plans in most states.5 Your plan options may vary depending on your state. Medicare Supplement Insurance plans are standardized differently in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
