Additional information
High prolactin levels are normal during pregnancy and after childbirth. Too much prolactin outside of these scenarios can cause symptoms such as abnormal lactation, irregular periods, breast pain, menopausal symptoms and – in some cases – infertility. Hyperprolactinemia can also affect men.
Since Cabergoline is taken 1-2 times weekly, it may be helpful to set reminders on your phone or to use a pill box in order to not miss doses. Do not take 2 doses at the same time, even if you missed a previous dose.
Let your doctor know if you experience any signs of kidney problems while taking Cabergoline. This may include changes in urination, blood in your urine or changes in weight.
While taking Cabergoline, look for signs of weakness on one side of the body, trouble speaking, difficulty thinking clearly, changes in balance, one side of the face dropping or blurry eyesight. These can be signs of stroke and are considered an emergency medical problem.
