Aromasin is a medication used to treat breast cancer. Aromasin is available as a brand name or generic drug and comes as an oral tablet.

Aromasin is a medication that contains the active ingredient Exemestane. It is used to treat advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women and is typically taken once daily.

Aromasin blocks cells from producing essential hormones, such as estrogen, to stop the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer cells.

Common side effects of Aromasin include headaches, hot flashes, upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, muscle or joint pain, hair loss, fatigue, insomnia, sweating, back pain, dizziness and anxiety.

Aromasin is typically reserved for advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease has progressed following tamoxifen therapy.

You should take your dose of Aromasin after a meal, and preferably at the same time each day.

Aromasin can increase your blood pressure. Be sure to watch for signs of high blood pressure including headache, dizziness or passing out.

Aromasin can lead to weaker bones and osteoporosis. This risk increases if it is used for a long time. This can increase the chance of broken bones. Talk to your doctor right away if you have bone pain.
