Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan options

Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C) plans include all of your Medicare health benefits and prescription drug coverage for all-in-one coverage.

Depending on where you live, you may have access to different types of Medicare Advantage plans from Wellcare.

  • Wellcare Medicare HMO plans
Members of a Medicare HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) plan are often required to designate a primary care physician (PCP) to coordinate their health care. If you require specialized care, you may be required to get a referral from your PCP.

  • Wellcare Medicare PPO plans
Beneficiaries of a Medicare PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan typically have more freedom in the health care providers they can visit for covered care. You may be able to visit a health care provider outside of your plan network, though you may have to pay higher out-of-pocket costs than if you stay within the plan network.

  • Wellcare Medicare D-SNP plans
A dual eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) combines Medicare Advantage and Medicaid benefits for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. These plans cover prescription drugs and may cover supplemental benefits not covered by Original Medicare (Part A and Part B).

  • Wellcare Medicare C-SNP plans
A chronic condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP) can help members manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes or chronic heart failure. These plans cover what you need to manage your condition and can also help coordinate your complex care needs.

Plan availability and benefits may vary from one area to another, and not all plans are available in all locations.

Why choose a Medicare plan from Wellcare?

You can find Medicare Advantage plans from Wellcare that feature large networks that may even include your doctor who accepts Medicare. Some Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans also give back some, or all, of your Medicare Part B premium each month.

As a member of a Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan, you receive additional flexibility with a Visa Flex Card. This plan feature is a Visa debit card preloaded with a set amount between $200 – $2,500, which you can use to help pay for your dental, vision or hearing care needs that go beyond your plan coverage.

Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans may also feature allowances for over-the-counter items such as vitamins, toothpaste and incontinence supplies.

Many WellCare Medicare plans also earn above average quality ratings. Each year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) release Star Ratings that measure the performance of Medicare Advantage plans.3

For 2022, 54% of Wellcare Medicare plan members are in a plan rated 4 stars or higher out of 5 stars.2
