Cigna Medicare Part D Drug Plans
Although Medicare Part A and Part B (also called Original Medicare) can cover a wide range of services and products, in most cases Part A and Part B do not cover prescription drug costs.
Medicare Part D plans – like the ones offered by Cigna Medicare – are available to anyone who lives in the plan’s geographic service area and who is enrolled in Medicare Part A and/or Part B.
All Part D plans are not the same, as there can be differences in plan costs, covered drugs (also called a plan’s “formulary”) and the pharmacies that are part of the plan.

Cigna Medicare Part D Plan Options
There are three types of Cigna Medicare Part D plans available across the country in 2022.
Cigna Secure Rx
The Cigna Secure Rx plan features a $480 deductible and $0 copays for tier 1, 2 and 6 drugs when a 90-day supply is delivered by mail. The 2022 weighted average monthly premium for Cigna Secure Rx is $33.75.2
Cigna Essential Rx
This Cigna plan has a $480 deductible with low copays, including $0 for preferred generic drugs. Premiums average $35.54 per month.2
Cigna Extra Rx
This plan has an annual deductible of just $100 with low to moderate copays across all drug tiers. Average premiums are $60.57.2
What Is the 2022 Cigna Formulary?
Medicare Part D plans come with a formulary, or a list of drugs covered by the plan. These formularies may change from one year to the next.
