A Mistral packet contains 28 total pills. 21 pills are active medication, while 7 are placebo. When you reach the placebo week, you will typically have your period.
Smoking cigarettes while using Mistral raises the risk of blood clots, stroke and heart attack. The chance is higher with increased age and the number of cigarettes smoked. It is strongly advised not to smoke.
If you are over 35 years old and smoke, do not use Mistral.
Try to take Mistral at the same time every day. Try to not vary the timing of doses by more than 12 hours. Do not skip doses, even if you do not have sex often.
This medication can take time to start working effectively, and you may need to use a back-up form of birth control like condoms to prevent pregnancy.
